Shadow Fight 2 Characters and Bodyguards Guide: Every Boss Guard Explained
Every boss fight in Shadow Fight 2 has a queue in front of it. Before you can touch Lynx, Hermit, Butcher, Wasp, Widow, Shogun or Titan, you have to beat their bodyguards first, and those guards are not filler. They introduce new weapons, new fighting styles and new tricks one fight at a time, so by the time the boss shows up you have already seen most of what the act can throw at you.
Most character lists online just dump names. This guide covers who the main characters are, how the bodyguard system works, and every bodyguard in every act with their weapon.
The Main Characters
Shadow
You play as Shadow, a legendary warrior who opened the Gates of Shadows looking for a worthy opponent and lost his body in the process. That one decision is the whole story: six demons escaped through the gates, and Shadow has to defeat them all, take their seals and close the gates again. He does not talk much, which is why the characters around him do most of the storytelling.
Sensei
Sensei is Shadow’s teacher and the voice that guides you through the early game. He explains the world, warns you about each demon and keeps the story moving between fights. When you are unsure what to do next, Sensei is usually the one telling you.
May
May travels with Shadow and Sensei, and she is the emotional core of the story. Without spoiling the late game, her fate is what drives Shadow through Act VII, and she becomes central to the final stretch against Titan. If you only remember one story beat, it is this: Shadow is not just collecting seals, he is fighting his way back to her.
Sly
Sly is the merchant with a shady streak. He sells you gear, drops hints about demons and their secrets, and generally knows more than he lets on. He is the character who reveals, for example, that Hermit’s mysterious power is magic.
Titan and the Act VII Characters
Titan is the final boss and the ruler behind the demons. In Act VII, set in the Shadow World, you also meet Ancient, a mysterious figure who knows the history of Shadow Energy and guides Shadow toward the final battle, plus Kali, Cypher, Simon and Lazarus, who fill out the last chapters. Titan’s plan is simple and huge: use Shadow’s energy to destroy any world in his path.
How Bodyguards Work
The rule is the same for every demon: five bodyguards stand between you and the boss, and you must beat all five before the boss fight unlocks. Each bodyguard fight can run up to three rounds, and you need to win two of them. Almost every bodyguard has their own speaking role and personality, with one exception: Shin, Lynx’s first bodyguard, never speaks.
Bodyguards are also your training. Each one uses a different weapon, so Act 1 alone teaches you to handle kunai, batons, sais, a ninja sword and twin swords before Lynx ever appears. The difficulty climbs with each guard, so treat the fifth bodyguard as a gear check: if you are scraping through that fight, upgrade before facing the boss, because the boss is harder than anything before it.
All Bodyguards by Act
Act 1: Lynx’s Bodyguards (The Order)
Lynx leads a group of assassins called The Order, and all five of his bodyguards are members of it.
- Shin: Kunai. The first bodyguard in the game, and the only one with no speaking role. Fast, close range, and a gentle introduction to real fights.
- Brick: Steel Batons. Hits hard with long, sweeping baton attacks. Stay close and interrupt him instead of trading from range.
- Needle: Sais. Quick and tricky. Beating her unlocks the Underworld.
- Ghost: Ninja Sword. A step up in speed and damage, and a preview of how fast later fights get.
- Dandy: Swords. The final gate before Lynx himself, and the first real test of your upgraded gear.
Act 2: Hermit’s Bodyguards
Hermit built a school and held a competition to find one student worthy of learning his secret power. His five bodyguards are the competitors, and most of them do not respect him at all: they just want the secret for themselves. The exception is Mantis, who wants to destroy it.
- Dragon: Staff. Long reach, patient style.
- Buffalo: Crescent Knives. Fast, close and aggressive.
- Mantis: Oriental Sabers. The one guard with a different motive, and a sharp, stylish fighter.
- Tiger: Steel Claws. Relentless pressure up close.
- Crane: Unarmed. The only bodyguard in the game who fights barehanded, a nod to the Fujian White Crane martial arts style.
Act 3: Butcher’s Bodyguards
Butcher rules a bandit gang, and his bodyguards are gang members he raised from childhood to be criminals. They fight dirty, and the last two hit especially hard.
- Bird: Knives. She lures Shadow, Sensei and May into an ambush at the start of the act.
- Rhino: Crescent Knives. Big, heavy swings.
- Bull: Steel Batons. Power over speed, so keep moving.
- Redhead: Tonfas. Quick strikes that punish slow weapons.
- Reaper: Kusarigama. Long chain reach, and the hardest guard of the act for most players.
Act 4: Wasp’s Bodyguards
Wasp is a pirate queen, and her guards are her crew. The first three are members of New Blood, a group that rebelled against her, while the last two are older crew members who still serve her.
- Kraken: Two-Handed Sword. Huge damage if he lands a clean hit, so do not trade blows.
- Cleaver: Big Swords. Another heavy hitter who punishes slow play.
- Shark: Krises. Fast, wavy blades that are hard to read at first.
- Bosun: Glaive. Long reach, so close the distance carefully.
- Whaler: Trident. The only enemy in the game who uses a trident, and a fitting final guard before Wasp.
Act 5: Widow’s Bodyguards
Widow’s bodyguards are mostly men she has charmed. They attack Shadow because they wrongly believe he wants Widow the way they do, when all he wants is her seal. Defeating them breaks the charm and frees them. The exception is Puma, a woman who serves Widow to help her own ambitions.
- Irbis: Steel Batons.
- Wolf: Swords.
- Capra: Silver Spear. Reach is the problem here, so pressure him up close.
- Bear: Heavy Hammer. Slow, massive damage. Dodge, then punish.
- Puma: Sentinel Kusarigama. The trickiest guard of the act, with chain range that controls the whole arena.
Act 6: Shogun’s Bodyguards
Shogun is a military warlord, and his bodyguards are officers from his army, named by rank. They mistake Shadow for the Prince who once ruled the empire. This act has a trap inside it: before you can fight General, the fifth guard, you must first defeat his five mercenaries, each with a different weapon, from sais to spiked axes.
- Corporal: Jumonji Yari. The only bodyguard who uses an ice-based magic attack.
- Captain: Nodachi. A very long blade, so watch your spacing.
- Major: Dual Wakizashis. Fast twin blades up close.
- Colonel: Bisento. A polearm that controls mid-range.
- General: Glaive. Beat his five mercenaries first, then face him.
Shogun himself can also summon his bodyguards during his own fight after you beat him once, and those summoned strikes cannot be blocked, only dodged. That is a boss mechanic, but it is worth knowing before you celebrate an early round win.
Act 7: Titan’s Bodyguards
Titan’s bodyguards are the darkest twist in the game. Each one is an evil version of Shadow from another dimension, a Shadow who was not strong enough to resist Shadow Energy and ended up corrupted by it. Each one defeated a demon in their own world and took their place, and Titan sends them against you to show what you could become. They are also the only bodyguards who use perks and enchantments on their equipment, which is why they hit so much harder than earlier guards.
- Assassin: Devastator. Titan’s first guard. He took over The Order in his world and now decides who lives and who dies.
- Master: Composite Sword. A dark mirror of Hermit, a teacher who duels students to prove his own superiority.
- Guru: Thunder Hammers. A charismatic leader figure who claims Butcher’s gang saw him as a messiah.
- Corsair: Plasma Rifle. A pirate who killed Wasp in his world and took over her fleet.
- Emperor: Cobra’s Tooth. The final guard, a cruel ruler who killed Shogun and took Ivory City for himself.
These five fights sit at levels 50 to 52, right at the top of the game’s level range, since the real max level in Shadow Fight 2 is 52. Fully upgrade your gear before this stretch, because there is no easy gap to exploit.
The Bodyguards Players Get Stuck On
Community votes consistently name Hermit as the hardest demon, and his guards are part of the reason: by the time you reach him, magic is still new to you, and his guards teach you nothing about lightning. Wasp’s guards frustrate players differently, with long weapons and fast movement that punish anyone standing still.
Three practical tips cover most stuck points. First, upgrade before the fifth guard of each act, not after you lose to the boss three times. Second, match your weapon to the guard’s range: fast, short weapons against slow heavy hitters like Bear and Kraken, and longer weapons against fast close-range guards like Tiger and Mantis. Third, save magic and ranged attacks for moments when the guard is recovering from a swing, because good guards will punish a whiffed magic cast.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many bodyguards does each demon have in Shadow Fight 2?
Five. Every demon from Lynx to Shogun has five bodyguards, and Titan has five as well. You must defeat them all before the boss fight unlocks.
Which is the hardest boss in Shadow Fight 2?
Players argue about this endlessly, but community polls put Hermit at the top, with Wasp as runner-up, while many veterans say Shogun and Titan are the hardest in practice because of damage absorption, summons and Titan’s enchanted guards.
Who is the leader of The Order in Shadow Fight 2?
Lynx. The Order is his group of assassins, and all five of his bodyguards are members of it.
Who are Titan’s bodyguards?
Assassin, Master, Guru, Corsair and Emperor. Each is a corrupted version of Shadow from another dimension, and each defeated a demon in their own world before serving Titan.
Can you play as the bodyguards in Shadow Fight 2?
No, you play as Shadow only. Bodyguards are enemies, and their weapons are mostly available to you through the shop instead, although a few, like Shin’s kunai setup and some Titan guard weapons, are not obtainable in the same form.
Do bodyguards appear in Eclipse mode?
Yes. Eclipse mode replays the story acts at much higher difficulty, so you face the bodyguards again on the way to each boss, and beating a boss in Eclipse mode rewards you with that boss’s weapon.
What happens after you beat all of Titan’s bodyguards?
You finally face Titan himself, the last boss of the game. Beat him and you finish the main story, with your body and the gates resolved in the ending.
Final Word
Bodyguards look like a roadblock, but they are really the game’s teaching system. Every guard shows you one weapon, one range and one habit before the boss combines them all. Learn the guard, upgrade your gear at the fifth fight of each act, and the bosses stop feeling unfair.
